Artificial Marble for Kitchen: What You Need to Know!

Hey, friends! I've been doing a lot of research on artificial marble recently while renovating my kitchen, and today I'd like to share some insights with you.

1. What is Artificial Marble for Kitchen?

Artificial marble for kitchen is usually made by mixing and pressing natural marble scraps, stone powder, resin and other materials through certain processes. It has the beautiful textures of natural marble while overcoming some of its drawbacks, such as relatively high porosity which makes it prone to color penetration, relatively high price and a certain amount of radiation.

2. Advantages

1.Excellent Aesthetics: It can mimic the textures of various natural marbles, ranging from the classic black-and-white minimalist style to luxurious European patterns, meeting the needs of different kitchen decoration styles. Whether it's a modern minimalist kitchen or a retro European-style kitchen, you can always find a suitable style to instantly enhance the appearance of your kitchen.

2.Superior Performance: It has high hardness, is resistant to abrasion and scratches. Daily activities like cutting vegetables or placing pots and pans on it are unlikely to leave marks. Moreover, its surface is relatively smooth and easy to clean. Oil stains and water marks can be wiped off easily. For the kitchen, which is an area prone to heavy oil pollution, it's really a great helper for cleaning.

3.Affordable Price: Compared with natural marble, the price of artificial marble is more budget-friendly. It enables more people with limited budgets to realize their dream of having a marble countertop in the kitchen. While ensuring beauty and performance, it effectively controls the decoration cost.

4.Good Workability: It comes in various sizes and specifications and can be custom-cut according to the actual layout of the kitchen. Seamless splicing is possible, and it can adapt well to countertops of various shapes, including irregular ones, making the installation more flexible and convenient.

3. Disadvantages

1.Limited High Temperature Resistance: Although it can withstand a certain amount of temperature, if it is in contact with high-temperature objects for a long time, such as a hot pot just taken off the stove, it may cause the surface to change color, deform or even crack. So it's necessary to use heat-insulating pads.

2.Durability Issues: Over time, the resin may age, resulting in phenomena such as discoloration and loss of luster. However, this process is relatively long, and proper maintenance can delay it to some extent.

4. Selection Methods

1.Check the Appearance: The surface of high-quality artificial marble should be smooth and flat, without bubbles, cracks, color spots and other defects. The textures should be clear, natural and have a sense of hierarchy, and the gloss should be good. You can observe the samples from multiple angles in a well-lit place and compare the appearance differences among different products.

2.Smell the Odor: Good artificial marble usually doesn't have a pungent smell under normal circumstances. If you smell a distinct pungent chemical odor, it's likely that the product uses inferior resin, and such products may have problems in terms of environmental protection and quality, so it's not recommended to choose them.

3.Test the Hardness: You can gently scratch the surface of the sample with hard objects like fingernails or keys. On the surface of high-quality products, there won't be obvious scratches left, or the scratches will be shallow and easy to wipe off, indicating good hardness and strong wear resistance.

4.Verify Brand Qualifications: Choose artificial marble from well-known brands and check relevant qualification certificates such as quality inspection reports and environmental protection certifications to ensure that the products meet national standards and that both the quality and after-sales service are more guaranteed.

5. Precautions for Use and Maintenance

1.Daily Cleaning: Use mild, neutral cleaners and a damp cloth to wipe the countertop. Avoid using cleaners containing strong acids or alkalis to prevent corrosion of the surface. After cleaning, dry the countertop with a dry cloth to prevent water stains from remaining.

2.Avoid High Temperature: As mentioned before, hot pots, kettles and other high-temperature objects should be placed on heat-insulating pads to avoid direct contact with the countertop and prevent high-temperature damage.

3.Prevent Color Penetration: For colored liquids like soy sauce and fruit juice spilled on the countertop, clean them up in time to avoid long-term stay and color penetration. If color penetration accidentally occurs, you can try using special stone cleaners to deal with it. But first, test it on a small, inconspicuous area to make sure it won't damage the countertop.

In conclusion, artificial marble for kitchen is a cost-effective choice for most families. However, during the selection and use process, pay more attention to the aspects mentioned above to keep it beautiful and practical in the kitchen for a long time.
